Great traditional pub with newly refurbished afternoon tearoom .
Recently spent a few days in this beautiful little place and received such a warm welcome at the pub. Great service, loads of nice locals and dogs. Had the best chips ever on good Friday and then took advantage of the brilliant happy hour on Saturday afternoon. Will definitely be back- thanks so much!
If you go for a walk along the Allonby coastline you should stop off at 'The Ship Hotel' for a crafty pint. They have a few real ales on pull and some nice lagers too (eg cruzcampo). All ideal for sitting outside in the sun looking over the green towards the sea. They also do vegan pizas and other meals, should you feel a bit peckish. The landlord was really friendly and happy to chat / give advice, etc.
While having a short stay in Allonby, I visited the Ship every night with the dog for a few pints. The staff very friendly and my dog loved all the attention and treats. One night we all went for our dinner, the fish and chips were excellent, especially the chips. My 3 year grandson loved his pizza.
Home cut chips and the crispy bubble batter on the fish made this a great seaside treat sat out on the front terrace. Christopher (I think?) was a superb host very welcoming and helpful. Easy car parking if required but a great stop off if walking the coastline path through Allonby
Rating a restaurant as we didn't stay in the hotel. The food is 3/5, cooked from frozen, fish very mushy, peas barely green, pizza dough very well baked but slightly dry-ish. Service 5/5. The gentleman who was serving us was super friendly and we were tended to each time we needed something. Beautiful location. We really like Allonby.
Awseome pint and a slice of pizza today after a lovely stroll on beach with our dogs , brilliant place , picnic tables, dog friendly very welcoming staff definitely recommend oh and plenty beers to choose
Can't comment on the rooms as we never stayed there but the food, the atmosphere and the host get 5 stars. Ate here on the three days we spent in Allonby and couldn't fault anything. Had many drinks, prices are very reasonable as is the food. Our dog was spoilt rotten and loved it as much as we did. Everyone made us feel welcome, especially the owner Chris. If you're ever staying in Allonby or just passing through make sure you pop in. You won't be disappointed. Would recommend the fish and chips. Fresh, plentiful and very tasty.
